Security Export Control (External)

Implementation of "Security Export Control" at Keio University

The "Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act (hereinafter referred to as the FEFTA)" and its related laws and regulations aim to maintain international peace and security. They require universities and other institutions to obtain prior permission from the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry when providing or sending technologies or goods that could potentially be used or diverted for military purposes to overseas locations (or to non-residents, etc.). In particular, since research results at universities may include technologies that could be diverted to weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear weapons, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry require that appropriate security export controls be strictly enforced. We ask all faculty and staff for their understanding and cooperation regarding compliance based on the "Keio University Security Export Control Regulations" and the "'Security Export Control' Manual at Keio University."
