Special Lecture by the Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia
On Thursday June 2, Keio welcomed the Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, Mr. Khairy Jamaluddin to Mita Campus where he gave a special lecture titled “The Future Trajectory of the Malaysia-Japan Relationship.” The North Hall was filled with about 80 audience members eager to listen to Minister Khairy’s words—most of them Keio students.
Minister Khairy became Special Officer in the office of Abdullah Badawi, who was then the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, and he also served as his Deputy Principal Private Secretary when Badawi became Prime Minister in 2003. In 2009, he became the youngest Youth Chief of the ruling United Malays National Organisation (UMNO). Under the Abdullah Badawi administration, he served as special assistant to the prime minister and has played a central role in policy making in Malaysia. His breadth of knowledge and experience extends to Japan, where he spent five years during his childhood. He is one of Malaysia’s most energetic and young ministers.
After the lecture there was a lively Q&A session, and Minister Khairy took the time to take photos with the students.
