Former Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende Visits Keio

On Wednesday June 22, former Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mr. Jan Peter Balkenende, paid a visit to Keio University and gave a special lecture for Keio Business School (KBS).
Mr. Balkenende’s 30-minute lecture on sustainability and economic development was held at Hiyoshi Campus for an audience of seventy Keio students. After his lecture, he engaged the students in a lively exchange of opinions. This lecture came about after KBS students in the Executive MBA Program visited Dutch companies in the Netherlands as part of their overseas fieldwork.
Before the lecture, Mr. Balkenende also dropped by Mita Campus to meet with Keio President Seike to talk about the state of affairs and higher education in the Netherlands and Japan.
Mr. Balkenende, Prime Minister of the Netherlands from 2002-2010, has a close relationship with Keio University. He has an Honorary Doctorate from Keio which he received in 2009.
