Three Events Showcasing Research and Educational Achievements
December 15, 2016
Three events introducing Keio’s research and educational achievements were held in November.
The SFC Open Research Forum (ORF) was held this year again at Tokyo Midtown for two days from Friday, November 18.
ORF is an event that presents research findings at Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) to a broad audience. In this forum, the future prospects and results of many ongoing research projects at SFC are introduced to companies and national and local governments through exhibitions, demonstrations, sessions, and workshops. The theme for ORF 2016 was “KAERU,” meaning “hatch,” alluding to the hatching of ideas and inventions. To tackle the challenges that are emerging in society, SFC is constantly generating new ideas and new knowledge that are then disseminated and circulated within society. It aims to bring about changes in society through the power of knowledge and establish a continuous cycle of creative power.
On Saturday, November 26, the KMD Forum was held at Mita Campus. The KMD forum is an event to showcase various research accomplishments by the Keio University Graduate School of Media Design (KMD). This year’s theme was “The Pop & Tech of 2020,” and it introduced research in leading-edge technology, pop culture, education, sports, and more, through exciting workshops, symposiums, and interactive demonstrations. This year’s KMD Forum drew about 1,500 visitors.
On the same day, Hiyoshi Research Portfolio 2016 (HRP 2016) was held at Hiyoshi Campus. At Hiyoshi, there are seven undergraduate faculties, three graduate schools, ten research institutes and centers, Keio Senior High School, and Keio Futsubu School. During HRP 2016, Hiyoshi Campus was an “open campus” in every sense of the word. Almost all the institutions participated and held events that were aimed towards prospective students and their parents, the local community, and Keio students, attracting many people from within and outside Keio.
