Japanese Culture Through Rare Books
Registration for Keio University’s first MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) through FutureLearn is now open. Follow the link below to watch a three-minute video introducing this exciting new course.
The course, Japanese Culture Through Rare Books, will be given by Professors Takahiro Sasaki and Wataru Ichinohe of the Institute of Oriental Classics.
Last year, Keio University signed a Course Distribution Agreement with FutureLearn, the UK-based MOOC provider, making Keio the first university in Japan to become an official partner.
The course will begin on July 18 and will run for three weeks. It will draw from materials in the Institute of Oriental Classics collection as well as the extensive visual materials from the Keio University Library collection. The language of instruction is in Japanese with English subtitles, and discussions between participants will be in English.
This is the first of many FutureLearn MOOCs that Keio will make available to anyone anywhere in the world, covering diverse fields and content unique to Japan.
