2014 Mita-kai Homecoming Day (Keio Rengo Mita-kai Taikai)

Update:Nov. 05, 2014

The annual Mita-kai Homecoming Day (Keio Rengo Mita-kai Taikai 2014) for Keio alumni, was held at Hiyoshi Campus on Sunday, October 19. This year’s theme was “Wonderful Encounters.” More than 20,000 people, including Keio alumni and their families, were in attendance on this clear autumn day.

The event began at 10:00 a.m. with an opening speech at the Hiyoshi Commemorative Hall by Mr. Ochiai, chairman of the event committee. Keio’s school flag was then brought onto the stage during the singing of Alma Mater “The Juku-ka.” Keio Rengo Mita-kai Chairman Mr. Hiki greeted the audience, which was then followed by a congratulatory address by President Seike. The ceremony concluded with the singing of “Wakaki-chi” by all attendees.

Many elaborate events were held at each venue for the enjoyment of Keio alumni and their families, both young and old.

Among the most popular were the special live performances by the artists Hitoto-Yo and miwa at the Hiyoshi Commemorative Hall, for which people formed long queues to obtain numbered tickets. Large crowds also gathered at other live events at the Raiosha and the Collaboration Complex, and at the entertainment attractions including the Doremon’s Inflatable Castle and the Running Clinic at the Athletics Field. All over the campus, visitors formed different groups including Mita-kai groups, and with everyone enjoying themselves thoroughly, an atmosphere of fun and liveliness overflowed the campus.

This year marks the 20th year since the inaugural class of the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies and Faculty of Policy Management at Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) graduated from Keio University. As the class was in charge of organizing this year’s Rengo Mita-kai Taikai, many SFC graduates were also among the attendees at Hiyoshi Campus on the day.

The annual raffle ended the day’s festivities. It was a day in which Keio alumni from all generations came together enjoying old and new encounters.
