Spring 2014 Postgraduate Entrance Ceremony

Keio University held its Postgraduate Entrance Ceremony at the Hiyoshi Commemorative Hall on Friday, April 4, 2014. A total of 1,834 students (1,363 master’s, 272 doctoral, and 199 professional degree candidates) were welcomed to its 14 graduate schools this year.

At the ceremony, Vice-President Akira Haseyama gave the incoming class report, which was followed by a welcome address by President Atsushi Seike in not only Japanese but in English as well. Prof. Tatsuya Sakamoto of the Graduate School of Economics gave a congratulatory speech on behalf of the faculty, encouraging new students in their future endeavors. The ceremony ended with singing of Alma Mater “The Juku-ka” by all of the participants.

Many students and their families took advantage of the spring weather to take photographs under the cherry blossoms around Hiyoshi Campus on their way to and from the ceremony. After the ceremony, students divided into their respective graduate schools for guidance sessions and embarked on a new chapter in their lives as graduate students of Keio University.
