U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates gives lecture at Keio University

U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates gave a lecture in the Hall of the West School Building, Mita Campus, at 9.00 a.m. on January 14. In the lecture moderated by Prof. Masayuki Tadokoro, Faculty of Law, Secretary Gates spoke to a large audience of Keio students. After touching on the connection between Yukichi Fukuzawa and the U.S., Secretary Gates lectured for 20 minutes on the close cooperation between Japan and the U.S., and especially the maintenance of regional security through the Japan-U.S. alliance. Afterwards, Secretary Gates fielded and provided responses to questions from Keio students.
