Top Global University Project

Increasing the sustainability of the global community through jitsugaku (science)

Yukichi Fukuzawa’s idea of jitsugaku, or science, is an unwavering academic principle of Keio—present, past and future. Jitsugaku calls for individuals to solve issues by thinking critically from a scientific approach in order to reveal the empirical truth.
Under this founding principle, Keio has created three main initiatives: Longevity, Creativity, and Security. Keio focuses its resources on these three transdisciplinary research and education initiatives to conduct transdisciplinary and international education and research and share our education and research with the world. We aim to join the world’s top universities as a leading research institution.

Maximizing Keio’s Strengths in Three Initiatives: Longevity, Security, and Creativity

Keio is determined to contribute to the global community through transdisciplinary and international education and research through these initiatives. We aim to join the world’s top universities as a leading research institution.
