Postgraduate Degree Conferring Ceremony 2013

Update:Apr. 03, 2013

Keio University held its Postgraduate Degree Conferring Ceremony at Hiyoshi Commemorative Hall on March 29, 2013. A total of 1,715 degrees from its 14 graduate schools (229 doctoral, 1,254 master degrees, and 232 professional degrees) were conferred on students.

After Vice-President Akira Haseyama’s Graduating Class Report, the ceremony continued with the conferment of diplomas on a representative of Keio’s newest graduates from each graduate school. President Seike addressed this year’s graduates, and Prof. Emi Nakashima of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences gave a congratulatory speech on behalf of faculty members. The ceremony ended with singing of the Alma Mater “The Juku-ka” by all the participants.

A number of those attending Friday's ceremony first graduated from their undergraduate programs in Spring 2011, shortly after the Great East Japan Earthquake. As the Undergraduate Commencement was canceled that year, Friday's ceremony must have been an especially memorable occasion for those students who were unable to experience commencement as undergraduates.
