Spring Commencement 2013
Keio University held its Undergraduate Commencement at the Hiyoshi Commemorative Hall on March 22, 2013, graduating a total of 6,390 students from its 10 undergraduate faculties. Among this year’s graduates were 252 students from correspondence courses.
The ceremony began with Vice-President Akira Haseyama’s Graduating Class Report and continued with the conferment of diplomas and awards by President Atsushi Seike. President Seike then addressed Keio’s newest graduates, encouraging them in their future endeavors. Following a congratulatory speech from Alumni Representative Takehiko Kiyohara, Chairman of Japanese newspaper Sankei Shimbun Co.,Ltd., third-year student Yuki Kishimoto of Faculty of Business and Commerce represented all current Keio students in sending off this year’s graduates. Sixth-year student Yuka Hasumi of the Faculty of Pharmacy gave an address on behalf of the graduating class.
After the ceremony had finished, many other events ensued: degree conferment by faculty, a reception for 25th anniversary alumni (Juku-in), Koizumi Award-related celebrations, a ceremony for honor students, and a celebration for graduates of the correspondence courses, among others.
Under clear skies and flowering cherry blossoms, Hiyoshi Campus filled with graduates and their families and 25th anniversary alumni. Graduates savored their last day of college life celebrating and taking pictures with friends.
