Keio University (President: Yuichiro Anzai), Kyoto University (President: Kazuo Oike), the University of Tokyo (President: Hiroshi Komiyama), and Waseda University (President: Katsuhiko Shirai) have signed an agreement for inte-university student exchange in graduate school education. This agreement is aimed at providing opportunities for graduate students to receive a broad range of educational and research experiences, which will enhance the development of academics and promising human resources.

The four universities will form a federation to be based on the agreement that will primarily provide research guidance to graduate students through mutual exchanges. Moreover, they will enhance their efforts to promote exchange in graduate school education by, among other activities, giving instructors who are providing research guidance to accepted students the opportunity to participate in those students’ doctoral dissertation reviews. The participation will be materialize of the respective students’ home graduate school.
