Season’s Greetings from Keio
2008 promises to be an especially significant year for the Keio community as we become the first modern higher education institution in Japan to celebrate its 150th anniversary. A huge team of people has been busy throughout 2007, developing a range of exciting new initiatives and events that will showcase Keio’s history, celebrate creativity and innovation, and focus our efforts on the future.
Since its founding in 1858 by intellectual visionary Yukichi Fukuzawa, Keio has played a leading role in the development and modernization of Japan. Commemorative events and projects will highlight the twin concepts of independence and collaboration, underscoring our commitment to fostering future leaders with the capacity and strength to think independently, as well as the means to live and work in harmony with others. Most importantly, we will seek to advance Keio’s mission to educate young men and women who will “Design the Future” of a world that continues to become more complex, challenging and volatile.
Thank you for your continuing support, and we hope that you will join us in celebrating this important milestone.
Our best wishes for the season and throughout the coming year!
Yuichiro Anzai President,Keio University
