On 27 September, Keio University signed and sealed the agreement with the Kyoto University to collaborate in an extensive field such as the research, the education, and international exchange. The collaboration is aimed to contribute to "Human, Society, and Globe", and promotes joint research projects mainly in the fields of Medical, Life Science, Economic and Area Studies which have already proved academic achievements. We also intend to nurture young researcher to acquire advanced research skills by mutual human resource exchange.

Sharing common spirit of independence, the two universities expect to utilize the differences between the respective characteristics as the practical science of Keio University and the basic research of Kyoto University and the environment as a private vs. national university, the capital vs. the ancient capital city. In addition, SOI Asia and GLOBAL STUDIO of Keio University together with overseas offices of Kyoto University will cover almost all countries in Asia which will accelerate sharing and exchanging of research and academic information.

Sealing of this agreement, both universities will start to create support mechanisms to promote the collaboration, which will start with "Keio University and Kyoto University Collaboration Fund (tentative)".
