On Wednesday, 9 May, EU diplomats visited Keio Shiki Boys Senior High School and Keio Girls Senior High School to teach a class. This was an event held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, the basis of what is EU today. On this day, which is the anniversary of EU and is called Europe Day, an event entitiled "EU comes to your school" was held at about 80 high schools in and around Tokyo .
At Keio Shiki Boys High School, a diplomat from the Embassy of Bulgaria delivered a lecture on EU and Bulgaria for third year students. She spoke directly to the students in Japanese, and answered carefully to each question from the students. After the lecture, some students went all the way to the wing of the stage to ask more questions.
At Keio Girls Senior High School, a diplomat of the Embassy of Germany delivered a lecture on the history of EU and Germany for third year students. She spoke in German which was translated into Japanese, and students were able to understand the lecture well. At the end, students who study German thanked the lecturer in German, and presented her with a bouquet of flowers.

The event helped students understand more about the EU organization and its member countries.
