Spring season of the Tokyo Big6 Baseball League starts
Spring has come for baseball. On Saturday, 14 April, the spring season of the Tokyo Big6 Baseball League started. Prior to the opening match, President Yuichiro Anzai threw the ceremonial first pitch. President Anzai's ball went straight into the catcher's mitt. He shook hands with Waseda pitcher Yuichi Saito on the pitcher mound.
Keio University played against Rikkyo University in the opening match. In the first match, fourth year level student Sato's grand slam homer gave 5 scores to the Keio Team to an upset victory of 5-1.
In the second match held on Sunday, 15 April, first year level student Aoyama hit a two-run home run on his debut at-bat. Pitcher Nakabayashi of second year level, who was the key person in leading the Keio Senior High School Baseball team to Koshien, started the game. This was his first mound appearance and first win in the league games. Keio crushed Rikkyo to a 8-0 victory. With two wins in a row, Keio started a promising season.
A lot of attention is focused on the Tokyo Big6 Baseball League this year. The Keio Team will play every game with utmost effort throughout the season.
