OECD delegation visits Keio

On May 23rd, 2006, the delegation from Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in charge of reviewing higher education policies visited Keio University. Visitors included Sir Howard Newby, former Chairman of Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), Mr. David Breneman, Dean of Curry School of Education, University of Virginia, and Prof. Peter Maassen of University of Oslo and Chairman of Higher Education Development Association (HEDDA).

Keio President Prof. Yuichiro Anzai, Vice-President Prof. Taro Nishimura, Vice-President for International Collaboration and Education Prof. Tatsuya Sakamoto and Prof. Shinnosuke Obi, Director of the International Center welcomed the guests and held discussions on issues surrounding private universities and latest trends of higher education in Japan. The group was also invited to take part in a seminar coordinated by Prof. Shuhei Shiozawa, Dean of Faculty of Economics. Active discussions and presentations were held between the delegation and the Keio students.
