Ceremony held to mark the completion of the Shimoda Student Village
The Shimoda Student Village was recently constructed as one of a range of projects commemorating Keio University’s 150th anniversary. The Student Village complex is located in Shimoda, close to the Hiyoshi Campus, and will house Keio University Athletic League members and international students. A ceremony marking the completion of the building was held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 19 at the Shimoda Student Village cafeteria.
At the ceremony, President Yuichiro Anzai presented the companies responsible for design supervision and construction with a certificate of appreciation. The companies' representatives then presented a commemorative item to Keio University. Attendees then had the opportunity to tour the facility and see the Athletic League’s training room and a student dormitory room.
The Shimoda Student Village has four stories above ground and a total floor area of 10,000 square meters. The first floor is a common area for the Athletic League (club rooms, cafeteria, training facilities, shower rooms, etc.) and the second, third and fourth floors are dormitories (Athletic League building, international student building). It is anticipated that the interaction created between the Athletic League members and international students within the Student Village will become an extension of international exchange activities at Keio University as a whole.
