International Symposium on Double Degree Strategy held
This year marks the first year of the Double Degree Program created between Keio University and the four member institutions of the "Ecoles Centrale" Intergroup in France (an alliance of four higher educational institutes of engineering). In recognition of this milestone, an International Symposium was held on Monday, March 6 at the Raiosha Building Symposium Space on the Hiyoshi campus. This symposium was held in order to provide engineering-related universities with comprehensive information about the Double Degree Program and to facilitate the discussion of common issues. In addition to the members of the "Ecoles Centrale" Intergroup, participants included universities from Italy, Spain and Germany as well as Doshisha University and Tohoku University from Japan.
The symposium commenced with an opening address from President Anzai, followed by an explanation of Keio University's institution-wide international strategy by Vice President Sakamoto (Vice President of International Collaboration). Dean Inasaki of the Faculty of Science and Technology gave a report on international exchange and collaborative activities at the Faculty of Science and Technology and each institution and university then reported on their current international activities. The symposium concluded with a panel discussion session and a lively discussion was held regarding relevant issues and prospects for international exchange.
