Eminent Scholar Peter Mathias Visits Keio as International Advisor to OGI

Update:Mar. 09, 2006

Professor Peter Mathias, former Master of Downing College, Cambridge University, with which Keio University has a close, nearly thirty-year partnership, visited Tokyo from 21 to 23 February, 2006 in his capacity as International Advisor to the Organization for Global Initiatives (OGI).

He met with students, faculty members and academic staff at all five Tokyo area campuses (Hiyoshi, Mita, Shinanomachi, Shonan Fujisawa and Yagami) to gain a clearer understanding of the university as a whole, as well as of its ongoing efforts in internationalization.

Faculty and staff introduced the eminent scholar to various activities and initiatives currently taking place throughout the university, and he had an opportunity to speak with students from Japan and abroad interested in international exchange. Professor Mathias also shared his thoughts on internationalization in higher education with Tatsuya Sakamoto, Vice-President for International Collaboration and Education, Shinnosuke Obi, Director of the International Center, and administrators in OGI and other departments.

Keio is privileged to be able to work with him and benefit from the experience and insights of such prominent leaders in the higher education community as we work to strengthen our international dimension.
