Keio University and Louis Vuitton Japan Promote Japan-France Understanding through Unique Seminar Series
On October 27th, Keio University, the French Embassy in Japan and Louis Vuitton Japan (LVJ) signed an agreement to establish the "Louis Vuitton Japan Seminar", a thematic seminar course funded by LVJ and hosted at Keio. The ceremony was held at the Ambassador's residence at the French Embassy in Japan, and was attended by the French Ambassador to Japan Bernard De Montferrand, President & CEO of Louis Vuitton Japan Company Kyojiro Hata, and Keio University President Yuichiro Anzai.
With the international community becoming more and more diverse, the importance of a better understanding between leading countries through academia and culture increases each day. The year-long seminar course, open to all Keio graduate students, will focus on governance, and in an effort to capture "governance" in the broadest sense possible, professors and researchers in various fields from the two countries will collaborate to create a comprehensive, multidisciplinary curriculum.
Themes will include "Leadership", "Governance and Sustainable Development", "Global Business Management" and "Multi-cultural Management", and will include comparisons of French and Japanese models. Through this collaboration, Keio University aims to contribute to the community by developing young people with global perspectives who will become leaders of tomorrow, help "Design the Future", and advance a new stream of academic flow between Europe and Asia.
The seminar will run from April 2006 to March 2007 at Keio University's Mita Campus in Tokyo.
