New Partnership with Swedish University: Uppsala University
On Monday October 17, Keio signed a comprehensive exchange agreement with Uppsala University. The ceremony was held at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the academy that awards Nobel prizes. Keio was represented by Prof. Tatsuya Sakamoto, Vice-President for International Collaboration, and Prof. Shinnosuke Obi, Director of the International Center.
Keio and Uppsala’s comprehensive agreement, signed by Uppsala Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bo Sundqvist, aims to promote student and research exchange between the universities. Uppsala University was founded in 1477 and has many graduates who became celebrities such as Carl von Linné who is often called the Father of Taxonomy. In 2004’s Times Higher Education World Rankings, Uppsala was ranked 4th among Swedish Universities.
