President Anzai Congratulates Longtime Partner Fudan University on Behalf of Japanese Universities

Update:Sep. 29, 2005

President Anzai was invited to deliver a congratulatory address at Fudan University’s Centennial Celebration, held from September 22 - 24 in Shanghai, on behalf of Keio and other Japanese universities. Representatives of many prestigious universities from around the world gathered to celebrate the occasion, including the University of Tokyo, Kyoto University and Waseda University from Japan.

At the Welcome Banquet on the 22nd, President Anzai emphasized the long-standing partnership between Keio and Fudan, and its role in promoting mutual understanding between China and Japan, as well as creating a solid foundation for collaborative research and education. A recent expansion of this partnership includes a double degree program with the Graduate School of Media & Governance at SFC (Shonan Fujisawa Campus).

Fudan is a comprehensive university located in Shanghai, one of the most economically active cities in China. The institution traces its history back to 1905 when it was established as Fudan Public School, and is now recognized as one of the top universities in China. In 2000, the rapidly expanding university merged with Shanghai Medical University and now has its own Medical School. A famous saying in China is “Peking University in the north, Fudan University in the South.”
