The 2005 University Entrance Ceremony
The 2005 University Entrance ceremony was held on Monday April 4th, in the Hiyoshi Campus Memorial Hall. This year’s intake for the 9 faculties was a total of 6,478 students.
At the ceremony Vice-President Masahiro Kuroda gave a report on academic affairs which was followed by a congratulatory speech from President Yuichiro Anzai. In his speech, the president encouraged the students to fulfill their dream with courage and responsibility as becoming future leader. In succession, Professor Kikuko Ota from the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, gave a congratulatory speech as a representative of the university’s academic staff. Hiroyuki Umemura, president of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Ltd offered his congratulation to new comers as one graduate from Keio University. Finally, Ryo Murai, freshman of the Faculty of Economics offered his thanks on behalf of all the new students and expressed his high ambitions for his future at Keio University.
Each year, Keio Universitys’ Entrance Ceremony welcomes alumni from 50 years ago. This year, about 900 Keio graduates from 1955 attended the ceremony and blessed new students to Keio University. After the ceremony, Ichiro Kitasato and Masaaki Maruoka, presented a gift from the ‘Mitakai’ alumni society on behalf of 1955 graduates.
Even under drizzling weather, Hiyoshi Campus looked spirited and bubbly with students from the various university clubs welcoming the freshmen. Keeping this first day in view, students will start their new adventurous university life.
