The 2005 Graduation Ceremony

The 2005 graduation ceremony was held in the Hiyoshi Campus Memorial Hall on Monday, March 23rd. Including 321 students who studied through correspondence courses, a total of 6,491 graduated from the university’s 9 faculties. Also 104 students from Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care made history when they received their degree.

The ceremony started with the academic affairs report from Vice-President Masahiro Kuroda, followed by the degree conferment ceremony and the awarding of the two prizes, President’s Special Commendation Prize and the Koizumi Sports Prize. Given the opportunity, President Yuichiro Anzai gave a wonderful speech of congratulation to the conferee. In his words of encouragement, he put emphasis on the importance of leadership, the spirit of independence and the ability to cooperate in order to walk their future path with dignity.

The ceremony continued with a congratulatory address from Hidetoshi Yajima, the chairman of the board, Shimadzu Corporation. To conclude the graduation ceremony, a farewell speech was given by Yuji Kitano, a third year student from the Faculty of Science and Technology with an address in reply by the representative of graduating students, Tomohiro Yoshida from the Faculty of Economics.

Hiyoshi campus was filled with parents of graduating students, academics and dignitaries as well as alumni from 25 years ago. In the afternoon the students returned to their respective faculties to receive their degree certificates and enjoyed taking commemorative photographs with their friends. It became a very memorable last day at university for all the graduating students.
