Comprehensive agreement with a double degree program between Keio University and the "Écoles Centrale" Intergroup
A double-degree program is being developed with a comprehensive agreement between Keio and the four Ecoles Centrales in Paris, Lyon, Nante and Lille on Monday, March 7th.
The signing ceremony was held in Paris with the dean of the 4 schools and Yuichiro Anzai, President of Keio University. By having the partner schools release their curricula to one another, exchanges will be made possible between educational system with different historical and cultural backgrounds, helping to develop a fully internationalized training program for engineers and scientists in order to foster talents with cosmopolitan outlook and wisdom.
[Outline of the double-degree program]
- Student receive both degrees, the Master degree from Keio University (“Master of Science in Engineering” or “Master of Science”) and the Centrale Engineer Degree(Ingenieur de L’Ecole Centrale) after attending 2 years in the partner institute, 6 years in total.
- About 5 students are sent from the Faculty of Science and Technology (Keio University) to L’Ecole Centrale (EC) for the first attempt in 2006.
- 3 students will be admitted from EC on September, 2005.(selection terminated)
- As for Keio University, the selection on campus, and by the accepting institute is done before passing on to the third year. The students go to France in summer, attend 2 years education at EC. After coming back to Japan, they enter to the Graduate School of Science and Technology (Keio University) .
- As for the student of EC, they pursue two years of professional studies at EC after finishing the 2 years of preparatory classes and then enter to the Graduate School of Science and Technology (Keio University). (Students from EC take lectures in English at the International Graduate Programs on Advanced Science and Technology, or lectures in Japanese according to their language ability.)
The "Écoles Centrale" Intergroup is an alliance among the 4 higher educational institutes (Grande Ecole) of engineering from Paris, Lyon, Nantes and Lille. They provide engineering studies with corporate and overseas internships in the curriculum and also recognized by the French government as a higher educational institute. It has been highly regarded in France and abroad to provide high profiled educational system in order to nurture engineering expert and generalist with global outlook. The strong bond and partnership with the industry is also an advantage of the group.
