DMC workshop took place at the Nowton Court, UK

The Research Institute for Digital Media and Content (DMC) held a workshop ”Keio Workshop on International Collaboration in Digital Media and Content at the Nowton Court, the British stronghold of DMC, on March 9th and 10th.

The DMC was designed as part of “Center of Excellence for Strategic Research on Business Projects” by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) on July, 2004. DMC is an organization to comprehensively promote the creation and distribution of “contextual digital content”. It also plays a significant role to create and open global network structure connecting multiple international research institutes to assist in innovative research and development, promote international distribution and the development of world-class human resources.

With an opening speech from President Anzai (director of the DMC), the workshop opening has received appreciation for the sensible approach of the DMC with great anticipation for further activities.

In the 2 days of workshop, a keynote lecture entitled “ Digital Libraries and Digital Editions”, 4 session (“Capturing, Modeling and Archiving of Human Activities”, “Context Creation of Management for Multimedia Data”, “Digitisation of Race Books and Manuscripts”, and “ Digital Media and Networking Technology”), a Round Table Discussion on International Collaboration were held.

It remained successful throughout with participation, not only Japanese and foreign researchers, but also British media and members from the MEXT.
