The Third Japan-Korea Millennium Forum was held
The third congress of Japan-Korea Millennium Forum was held at the G-SEC laboratory, 6th floor of East Research Building, Mita campus. The goal of this forum is to strengthen the bond of Waseda (Japan), Yonsei (Korea), Korea (Korea) and Keio University. The third congress was held under the auspices of Keio Institute of East Asian Studies and the support of the Asia Research Fund. The theme of the latest forum was “Building an East Asian Community: Toward Deeper Japan-Korea Cooperation”.
After the opening speech of President Yuichiro Anzai from Keio University and a keynote lecture by Yasuhiro Nakasone, ex-prime minister, three debate sessions were organized and directed by the Vice-President of international relations, Toshiro Tanaka of Keio University.
The first session was addressed to discuss the present condition and future possibilities of the academic relation and exchange among the 4 universities. In the afternoon, we invited professors from the 4 universities as panelists and carried out the debate about the East Asian Community. The two sessions in the afternoon mainly focused on “Diplomatic Security Collaboration “and “Economics and Cultural Cooperation “ in the East Asian Community. Numerous of participants, including professors, students and external specialists attended the forum and it became a great occasion for intellectual exchange.
