Keio University presents Honorary Doctorate to Professor Emeritus Hans-Kurt Tönshoff of Hanover University

From 13:00, Monday, November the 8th, a presentation ceremony was held to award and honorary degree of doctor to Professor Emeritus of Hanover University (Germany), Hans-Kurt Tönshoff at the public speaking hall of Mita campus.

Professor Tönshoff is recognized as one of the best researcher in the practical development of manufacture engineering. His research especially aims toward the high efficiency and high accuracy conversion of cutting and grinding process. In addition, he has actively established an outgoing academic relation within this field, contributed by a comprehensive agreement of academic relation between Keio University and the Hanover University in 1998. The honorary degree from Keio University was awarded in recognition of his achievements.

Mrs. Tönshoff also attended the presentation ceremony and it continued in a companionable atmosphere with the chairmanship of Shinnosuke Obi, associate professor of the Faculty of Science and Technology. After the dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology recited the citation, the honorary degree of doctor was awarded from professor Anzai, president of Keio University. The ceremony ended by a closing speech of President Anzai and a greeting from Professor Tönshoff. The last commemoration speech entitled “Competition and Collaboration in Production Science” was addressed at the conference fall of the old university library, from 14:00.
