Update:Jan. 31, 2005

The opening ceremony for the ”Research Institute for Digital Media and Content (DMC)” was held on December 6th at the west hall of Mita campus.

The DMC was designed as part of “Center of Excellence for Strategic Research on Business Projects” by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

In symposium, President Anzai, the director of the DMC greets to the participants that the DMC plays a significant role in this modern age that highly values the creation of intelligence and its distribution.

Moreover, a keynote lecture entitled “Dissimilarity of Digital and Culture” was addressed by a Japanese style painter, Hiroshi Senju. Two of his digital print artworks were exhibited on stage during his speech and it has been contributed to Keio University as commemoration.

In the afternoon part, introduction to the digital content and a panel discussion focused on both “Formation of Digital Media and Content Channel” and ”the Building and Protection of Cultural Property” was held. The symposium became a golden opportunity to spread future activity for the DMC.

The symposium ended successfully with a presentation by Prof. Kuroda, the Vice-President of academic affairs. He subtly introduced the function and details of the “Research Consortium for Digital Media and Content", which was found on October 2004 to support the DMC.
